Making the Shaw Community a Safer Place

For over 20 years Mahdi Leroy Thorpe has been a "front line soldier" in the fight against the drugs and violent crime that has plagued the Shaw Community of Washington, DC. He has received numerous awards, commendations and recognitions from city officials, area churches and community based organizations. Mr. Thorpe has been a tireless warrior for all the citizens of the Shaw neighborhoods that share the vision of a safe, healthy, inclusive and vital community.

1. Restore ANC 2C-02 Single Member District back to the number one public safety single member district on the ANC 2C Commission

2. Follow-up the only economic development in the  ANC 2C-02 boundaries slated for 7th & Rhode Island Ave, NW and 7th & P Streets, NW

3. Locate a dog park in the ANC 2C-02 boundaries

4. Restore public servant accountability for abandoned buildings, street and alley cleaning, illegal construction, speed bumps and repair street and alley lighting

5. Increase recreational opportunities for youth and adults
